About RA
The Roaming Anthropology / ‘Travelling anthropology'/ first started in 2002 as a project initiated by Serbian students of ethnology/anthropology burdened by the silence that grew over Departments of Ethnology and/or Anthropology of the former Yugoslavia in 1990s. The seminar is based on a simple idea: to bring together students of ethnology/anthropology from Belgrade , Skopje , Zagreb , and Ljubljana (Universities comprising Departments of Ethnology and/or Anthropology), thus providing space to exchange their own views about a chosen topic. As suggested by the name itself, the seminar’s main characteristic is that of travelling, implying that it takes place in a different country each year (Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia), and is each time organised by a different group of students. Until now, the seminar has taken place five times, namely three times in Belgrade , Serbia (2001, 2004, 2011 in the form of individual workshops in visual anthropology), once in Ohrid , Macedonia (2002), and once in Nova Gorica, Slovenia (2006).
