About RA

The Roaming Anthropology / ‘Travelling anthropology'/ first started in 2002 as a project initiated by Serbian students of ethnology/anthropology burdened by the silence that grew over Departments of Ethnology and/or Anthropology of the former Yugoslavia in 1990s. The seminar is based on a simple idea: to bring together students of ethnology/anthropology from BelgradeSkopjeZagreb, and Ljubljana (Universities comprising Departments of Ethnology and/or Anthropology), thus providing space to exchange their own views about a chosen topic. As suggested by the name itself, the seminar’s main characteristic is that of travelling, implying that it takes place in a different country each year (Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia), and is each time organised by a different group of students. Until now, the seminar has taken place five times, namely three times in BelgradeSerbia (2001, 2004, 2011 in the form of individual workshops in visual anthropology), once in OhridMacedonia (2002), and once in Nova Gorica, Slovenia (2006).
